Exchange  5.5
We had a power surge and the mail server went out. After restarting that server i get these messages. 7022 The Microsoft Exchange Information store service hung on starting; 7001 Depends on the information store to be started; and 7031 The Microsoft Exchange Information store terminated unexpectedly. I am unable to get services started by starting services, I get the same messages in the event viewer. Can someone give guidance on how to get services back up and running? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

MrShorty, It sounds like you have 2 or 3 different problems. I looked up your error codes and you have corrupted drivers a problem with your RPC and MX lookup. I would suggest you go to the microsoft knowledge base and look up Exchange 5.5 and then typ in each error seperatly like this ...error 7001 the hit enter. It looks like you might just have to remove exchange and reload unless you have a rescue disk for it then just use that and it should over write the bad data.

Mike, are you available for another email question? I am tring to upgrade to exchange 2000 so that I can upgrade to exchange 2007. However when I try to upgrade to exchange 2000 I get this error message The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Service" cannot be assigned the action "Upgrade" because - Setup has detected the the Organization name of the Exchange Site you are currently trying to join or upgrade does not match the Exchange Organization found in the Active Directory. To fix this, you may use the Exchange 5.5 Administration tool to change the display name of the Organization and then re-run setup. How do I correct this issue...TIA
